Sunday,after the awards,SSS finished third in Wild Bunch Ladies traditional,to Texas Tiger and Dixie Bell in 1st and second....and got beat in Junior Girls by less than one miss by Sasskicker! A big disappointment,but it shows what having an available range to shoot at more frequently will do. Sasskicker is a great girl,and SSS hopes to meet her again. The shoot off was a LOT of Fun to watch,Ash made it to the third round,only on the third round to go up against Holy Terror.....the super ladies shooter of all time! SSS looked good but HT got ahead of her and won! Still it was a pleasure to see those two young guns shoot. Olin did well, finishing second behind rattlesnake Wrangler,and bringing home a nice trophy and a belt Buckle as well. Even slick finished 'in the money' finishing ninth in Senior gunfighter,and FINALLY getting an EOT belt buckle,he was clean except for one rifle round! This afternoon is laundry (how much we have generated is phenomenal) getting the dust out of the coach and we will depart in the morning to Kansas to see Roger and Norma Donlon,spend a day there and the head back to the barn! This has been fun,but I am ready for a little downtime.

Friday June 22, Two days of the main match are done and in the books, of course everyone thinks they are doing not as well as they could have.  But generally, SSS and Olin are shooting VERY well, Slick had a clean match going until he missed a rifle target... Again no white buffalo.  Olin won Texas Surrender and was awarded a great beltbuckle.  Tonite is the variety show, and soiled dove contest and costume awards, the three younguns have out voted us and we are going to attend.  Problems with the motor coach ..the inverter died and there is not one available in the area, so looks like we will have to tough it out and wait until we get home to get it fixed...Not a safety factor just an aggravation factor.will post again when time allows

Wednesday June13'Amarillo,TX....Spent most of yesterday getting the privacy curtains fixed, but now we have privacy,easily! Drove to Amarillo today on a Texas back road,at times okay,but at other times not so okay.We did manage to see a lot of Texas small town life,some oil wells pumping, some windmill blades being transported via flat bed trucks..boy are they big!..We plan to go into Albaquerque (where is spell check when you need it?)tomorrow and plan to take the Sandia tramway...then to EOT on Friday. We have played "MIlle Bourne,"'bandit and blackjack while riding down the hi way. This afternoon the kids are at the pool,burning off some energy. Makes them sleep well!!! We have met some very interesting characters on the road,good stories to tell. This is what RVimg is all about,a pleasant way to get to meet folks you would never meet at home,..old SASS cowboys,a couple that has RVed to ALASKA two times and built a bicycle. Based. Little car..Grant took. Lots of turns driving it!

June 11 Monday The coach rolled out from 25 Ancient Oak with SSS, Olin Winchester,Chisholm Trail Kid,Georgia Slick,and Three Dollar Rose and the two Jacks aboard. All the way to Arcadia LA (9 plus hours)to the Bonnie and Clyde RV park! All in good humor, eating about every two hours "because we can!) To Dallas tomorrow for a repair on the RV curtain,then depending on the time required maybe to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco or if more time then on to Amarillo and the to NM..

The Slick Gang Rides Again 2012

It is a week before the Slick Gange again heads west to the SASS World Championships at End of Trail, in New Mexico. This year in addition to taking Slick's Sharp Shooter to defend her title, we are also taking the reigning Jr Boy World Champion, Olin Winchester, to defend his title.  Also accompaning us will be The Chisholm Trail Kid, Grant Disser. 

Recent matches that SSS has attended were the Southe Carolina State Match, where she finished top Jr Girl and 5th lady overall and lost the Top Gun Lady spot to Miss Jewel.  I mention this because at the next match, the Georgia State Match, SSS wan her catagory again, finished 5th Lady overall and Won the Ladies Top Gun Shootoff agains Miss Jewel.  At the most recent match in KY, shoothing with the Rockcastle Rangers, she won top Jr Girl, Top Lady in the Wild Bunch Match, and Top Lady overall!

WEDNESDAY

We have arrived in Cheyenne Wyoming. the problem causing the 'tour bus' to overheat was a dirty screen on the radiator, likely NEVER cleaned, not a fan clutch but an expensive lession in routine maintanence!!The topography in Wyoming is totally different fron NM, the temps are about 20m degrees cooler, and RAIN happens, the winds are far less than NM all in all more pleasant. The trip thru Colorado was uneventful, even thru Denver at am rush hour was okay. Much better than last year! We spoke with Colin, but were unable to hook-up due to conflicts on both sides. The match Hell on Wheels starts Thursday, warm up matches tomorrow and the Wild Bunch Match is tomorrow. Ash will wear her new EOT belt buckle on her gun belt, and boy is it impressive..."Pull your pants down size" is a great description..Rodeo rider buckles are not as impressive!!! Grant is being a good traveler, it has been difficult for him not shooting and being a spectator, but he has taken it all in good humor, has learned about 'front pocket money in a money clip, fired the Gatlin gun and the Cannon so it has not been a total waste of time for him. We will be here at the Northwest Regional Match until Monday and then will head back towards the ranch (home) I will post during this match and then likely not again until the next round-up.
